December 10th 2003- EPMB and Robert Bosch (Australia) Pty Ltd signed a Technical Collaboration Agreement that would see Bosch and EPMB working together to supply brake modules to national carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd & other carmakers.
Through 79.5%-owned PEPS-JV (M) Sdn Bhd, EPMB would manufacture its own components for the corner module and assemble it with Bosch’s brake components.
”The brake products supplied to EPMB for the new Proton models are the latest generation, as supplied to major European customers. Proton will also be the first to use the Generation 3 ball in ramp rear disc caliper design, which will also be introduced to several European vehicles.”
- Robert Bosch (Australia) President Krister Mellve, December 2003
“With Bosch, our prices are now globally competitive…. This is a real opportunity for us in the near future once the Asean Free Trade Area (for the automotive sector) locks in. Together we have technology, quality and competitive prices."
- Executive Chairman Hamidon Abdullah, December 2003
Partnering Bosch enabled EPMB to evolve from being just an automotive components manufacturer to a modular systems supplier.
The initial partnership in braking systems has also led to further cooperation on other projects. EPMB and Robert Bosch (SEA) Pte Ltd are now in the midst of jointly developing their components into value-added products like rotating electric, petrol system and body electric items. |
