Tokyo, Japan-based Koito Manufacturing Co. Ltd is a leading global manufacturer of automotive lighting equipment. As at fiscal 2005, it raked in net sales of 178.7 million Yen and employed a 4,346-strong workforce.
Founded in 1915 as Koito Genrokuro Shoten, the company was the first in Japan to introduce Fresnel lenses for railroad signal lamps. Today, Koito not only manufactures automotive lighting equipment, it also makes equipment for the aerospace and shipping industries.
Internationally, Koito has an overseas network of 12 production bases in nine countries spanning four regions (Japan, North America, Europe and Asia), giving it a firm position as a global supplier.
Through its motto of “Entrusting Safety to Light”, Koito believes in developing new technologies and products that prioritize safety.
Products it has developed in line with this belief include gas discharge headlamps, Adaptive Front Lighting Systems (AFS) and LED lamps.

July 20th 1994- EPMB through its wholly-owned subsidiary EP Polymers (M) Sdn Bhd signed a Technical License Agreement with Koito Manufacturing Co. Ltd. Of Japan to acquire the license to manufacture and sell automotive lighting equipment using Koito's technical expertise.
Under this agreement, EPMB was able to develop the technology and engineering skills to manufacture headlamps and other automotive lighting equipment under Koito's guidance, using the technical data provided and developed by Koito.
EPMB's partnership with the Koito Group for over a decade has helped EPMB mature significantly in its design and production of automotive lighting equipment.
Koito's extensive experience in developing new and safer lighting technology made it a fitting technical partner to collaborate with for EPMB's production of headlamps and rear combination lamps.
EPMB has since started conducting lamp design in-house as well as with other parties. |
